Tributes have been paid to a north Wales mountaineer after his body was found in Snowdonia.
Tudor Bell, 51, was discovered near Beddgelert, Gwynedd on Tuesday after a search by mountain rescue teams and a helicopter from RAF Valley.
The experienced walker and mountaineer was reported missing on Monday, after he failed to return to his home near Pwllheli.
Mr Bell, a pharmacist, was the Scouts' District Commissioner for Gwynedd.
"He was quiet, effective and efficient. He was a great Scout," said John Muston, area commissioner for Snowdonia and Anglesey.
"Tudor was brought up in Holyhead and joined the cubs aged eight then joined the local scout group. He then went to university to do his pharmaceutical studies and came back. He has been in Pwllheli for many years."
His body was found in the Cwm Pennant area near Beddgelert at 10.00 GMT on Tuesday by the crew of a Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley.
It followed a three hour search for him in darkness, after the alarm was raised in the early hours of the morning. Aberglaslyn mountain rescue team were also involved in the search.
North Wales Police said it was understood the Mr Bell had been out walking alone.
The Scout Association said he was a qualified mountaineer who was used to leading people in hill-walking and rock climbing.
He was also an active member of the Clwb Dringo climbing club in Porthmadog.
The death has been reported to the north-west Wales coroner.
