Top international climber Dave MacLeod and the John Muir Trust are leading a guided walk into the corries of the North Face of Ben Nevis to explore the climbing history of Britain’s highest mountain. It’s part of the London 2012 Open Weekend supported by BP – a series of sporting and cultural events taking place across the UK which will see hundreds of thousands of people participating in events to celebrate the ‘One Year to Go’ countdown to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

‘Discovering Places on Ben Nevis – North Face Notable Climbs’ has been commissioned by Discovering Places for London 2012’s Open Weekend – taking place on place on Sunday 24 July. During the walk the exciting climbing history of the mountain will be revealed, from its first ascent over a century ago and the pioneering routes of the 1960s to Dave MacLeod’s extreme climb of Echo Wall in 2008, “a strong contender for the world’s hardest traditional rock climb".

This free event is for anyone over 14, under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Places are limited so please email info@johnmuiraward.org to confirm availability.
