I was given the chance to review what appears to be an updated version of the traditional copper bracelet. An item which appears to attract positive testimonials and ridicule in equal measure.
The theory attached to these bangles posits the beneficial effects on the human body of 'continuous magnetic flow' Something which is particularly beneficial to those who are suffering from or vulnerable to conditions like arthritis or Rheumatism.
As someone who over the years has rock climbed, kayaked, ridden mountain bikes and spent much to long gliding a mouse over a mat- I've certainly had periods of repetitive strain injury and for a while, carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist in particular. So yes...I have on occasion worn a copper bracelet although they always get distorted and cast aside after getting roughed up on the crag face.
The Trion:Z is a double looped band of elasticated rubber within a nylon sheath and carrying two magnets.Or as the manufacturer advises' magnetic ionic 1000 Gauss magnets in a 'alternating North-South polarity orientation which ensures continuous magnetic flow'.
Well...that's the science bit,but do they actually work ?
After about five days of use I did feel a slight improvement in what has become an increasing stiffness in my right hand and wrist. This is my writing/mouse hand although I do alternate hands when using a computer. Is that down to the band or the fact that the weather and a climbing fall has curtailed my outdoor activities this month?
The band itself is pretty unobtrusive and doesn't snag like a copper bracelet does. At twenty pounds for an average band, some might find it excessive for such a small item but if it works then that would be considered a bargain.
The company who make the Trion:Z band and accessories have garnered some impressive testimonials from sportsmen like golfer Ricky Fowler,Rugby player, James Anderson and badminton champion Nathan Robertson.
I can't answer the 64.000 dollar question I'm afraid.I'm open minded about what a lot of people consider 'new age mumbo jumbo' If you are prone to conditions which affect your hand and wrist movement and suffer discomfort and pain then it might well be worth further investigation.
