Robbie Cammack
The father of a Moray teenager who died in a climbing accident in the French Alps has paid tribute to an "amazing" son.
Robbie Cammack, 19, of Aberlour, died on the Massif du Mont Blanc on Friday, his family said. Mr Cammack's father, Adrian, told the BBC Scotland news website his son - described as a talented athlete - was a "wonderful lad".
He said: "We are just doing the best we can." Mr Cammack said of the University of Edinburgh medicine student: "Robbie was well-known throughout Moray for his achievements, both academic and sporting. "Robbie had a lifelong love of the hills. "He was just generally amazing.
"Robbie loved life and brought a laugh and inspiration to so many people. He will be deeply missed."
The Inverness-born teenager was a member of the Moray Roadrunners club. His coach, Carol Lawrie, told BBC Scotland: "Robbie was a very committed and talented athlete." She added: "He excelled. He really put his all into his sport. "He had a real sense of fun, he was a lovely boy, a credit to his parents. "He will be sadly missed."
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national in the French Alps. Next of kin are aware and are receiving consular assistance."
